SOUTHAVEN, Miss. (AP) - A construction worker was killed in Southaven when a piece of equipment fell on top of him.

DeSoto County Coroner Jeffrey Pounders tells The Commercial Appeal (https://bit.ly/1K7wATT ) the 36-year-old Memphis man, whose identity has not been released, was working Tuesday at a construction site in a residential area where new homes are under construction.

According to Pounders, the worker was on an embankment using a piece of equipment that Pounders described as a dirt compactor. He said the compactor fell over on the embankment, trapping the worker underneath.

No one else was injured.
