HUDSON, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities have charged an upstate New York man with fatally stabbing another man in a Hudson Valley city.

Police in the city of Hudson say 20-year-old Carl Williams of Hudson was arrested Monday on a second-degree murder charge in the killing of Corey Velasquez.

Officials say the 27-year-old Velasquez was stabbed in the neck inside an apartment late Sunday night and died soon after at a nearby hospital.

Williams was arraigned in Hudson City Court Monday afternoon and pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Williams is being held in jail Tuesday without bail. His attorney, Garth Slocum, questioned the validity of police search warrants associated with the arrest.

Police say Velasquez and Williams knew each other.
