PLAIN DEALING, La. (AP) - A Louisiana man has died after his tractor trailer collided with a train in Bossier Parish.

The Louisiana State Police said that 70-year-old Phillip Rivers of Zwolle was traveling through Plain Dealing on Monday afternoon in a truck pulling an empty log trailer when he drove into the path of a southbound Union Pacific freight train. After the impact, the train pushed the vehicle nearly half a mile before stopping.

Rivers was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was ejected from the truck. The Bossier Parish Coroner pronounced Rivers dead at the scene.

A toxicology sample was obtained from Rivers for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.
