CUYAHOGA FALLS, Ohio (AP) - Officials say a decision to outsource production has led to the imminent closure of a northeast Ohio manufacturing plant that will leave 53 people without jobs.

The Akron Beacon Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1QmNgfn ) TerraSource Global will cease operations of its Cuyahoga Falls facility in December.

The plant, which goes by the brand name Pennsylvania Crusher, makes heavy duty machinery that breaks down coal for use by electric power plants.

TerraSource officials say a major shift in customers away from North America made it necessary for the company to move closer to buyers in Asia and Russia.

Just four years ago, 70 percent of TerraSource’s sales came from North America.

A notice from the St. Louis-based manufacturer said layoffs will begin Dec. 11, 2015 and will be completed in three phases.
