DOVER, Del. (AP) - Delaware Gov. Jack Markell is joining a billionaire Democratic political donor to urge Democratic presidential candidates to talk about their plans to address climate change.
Markell planned to join Tom Steyer and Washington Gov. Jay Inslee on a conference call ahead of Tuesday night’s presidential debate to discuss the need for the candidates to engage in a robust discussion about climate change.
Steyer, a retired San Francisco hedge fund billionaire, sought to make climate change an issue in the 2014 mid-term elections through his group, NextGen Climate Action. He was one of the biggest Democratic political donors, giving almost $75 million to his super PAC and others.
NextGen Climate says it acts politically to prevent climate disaster and promote prosperity for all Americans.
