FORESTDALE, Ala. (AP) - Police say a group of men tortured an elderly man inside his Jefferson County home in order to get him to open a safe.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office tells local media that five males forced their way into the victim’s Forestdale home Monday evening. Three were wearing masks.
The unidentified victim told deputies they burned him with an iron and poured rubbing alcohol on him to get him to open his safe. He complied, but the safe was empty.
Police say the suspects then tied up the elderly man and stole jewelry, cash and a car.
The victim was able to get free and call 911. He was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
