MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - The University of South Alabama aims to bring in $150 million in what leaders are calling the school’s largest fundraising drive.

Administrators announced the Upward & Onward campaign on Tuesday. Their goal includes money for education, research and other aspects of campus life.

It will also help fund economic development, health care, service, athletics and the arts and humanities.

The campaign began quietly two years ago and has already raised about $73 million from more than 15,000 donors. That includes a single gift of $50 million from businessman Abraham “Abe” Mitchell.

The campaign will continue through 2020.
