SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - Officials say three Spokane police officers fired at a man, wounding him after responding to a domestic violence call.

The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release the Spokane officers shot 36-year-old Jason M. Smith early Monday after he refused to follow officer commands to exit his vehicle and rammed patrol cars.

Officers responded to a Spokane home after a call by Smith saying his dad was trying to kill himself. Smith’s father then called to report Smith was intoxicated and had slammed him into the ground.

Smith has been charged with assault and domestic violence.

The Sheriff’s Office is investigating. The officers involved have not yet been identified.
