WINTER PARK, Fla. (AP) - The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office has released the helicopter video of the suspect and a Florida sheriff’s deputy who were both shot in an exchange of gunfire at a busy intersection.

The video was released Monday and shows 21-year-old Christian Joy’s encounter with police Oct. 1. Pursued by deputies, Joy crashed into the back of another vehicle, jumped out of the car with a pistol and fired off a shot, hitting Investigator Brian Mahan in the ankle.

Joy was shot several times by officers and taken into custody. The passenger, Emmallee French, was also arrested.

Authorities say the chase started when deputies spotted a car matching the description of one last seen leaving the scene of a burglary. When deputies tried to pull the car over, Joy kept driving.
