CHIPPEWA LAKE, Ohio (AP) - A northeast Ohio property that was once home to a popular lakefront amusement park and swimming beach is looking for a buyer.

The Akron Beacon Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1GGEUtG ) it will take $3.7 million to purchase the former Chippewa Lake Park, which closed in 1978.

Situated along the shores of Chippewa Lake, which is owned by Medina County, the listing includes 40 acres of undeveloped farmland in addition to the 95-acre amusement park.

Officials say the resort, which once featured a boardwalk, hotel and other amenities, was a getaway destination for Cleveland and Akron residents as early as the late 1880s.

Realtor Troy Gerspacher says the property has been quietly on the market for years. The county purchased the lake for $2.2 million in 2006 after 14 years of negotiations.
