ST. LOUIS (AP) - A Pagedale man has been charged after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in St. Louis’ Fairground Park.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (https://bit.ly/1Psmsfw ) reports that 23-year-old Emond C. Washington was charged Friday with first-degree involuntary manslaughter in the death of 29-year-old Nathaniel Thomas. Washington was being held Tuesday on a $200,000 cash-only bail.

According to authorities, witnesses reported that the suspect may have been driving twice as fast as the posted 25-mph speed limit when his vehicle struck Thomas as the victim was crossing the street on Sept. 27.

Thomas was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

A message seeking a comment from the attorney listed for Washington was left by the Associated Press.
