FARGO, N.D. (AP) - The acting U.S. attorney from North Dakota has been recommended to fill out the term until a replacement is named.

Department of Justice officials say that Chris Myers has been appointed the state’s interim U.S. attorney. He will serve in that position until the search for the next U.S. attorney is completed.

Myers was named acting U.S. attorney when Timothy Purdon resigned in March to go into private practice.

The U.S. president nominates and the U.S. Senate confirms the top federal prosecutors in each state.
