PETERSBURG, Va. (AP) - The trial of a Petersburg woman charged with killing her newborn son has ended in a mistrial.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch (https://bit.ly/1X0sPJ2 ) reports that Petersburg Circuit Judge Dennis Martin declared the mistrial on Tuesday following more than four-and-half hours of jury selection.

After the hearing, assistant commonwealth’s attorney Tiffany Buckner said the jury revealed that they had formed opinions regarding the case and had communicated those opinions, which they are not allowed to do.

Twenty-one-year-old Kadijah Stewart Mungin is charged with first-degree murder and concealment of a body. Prosecutors say she killed the baby after giving birth in a bathroom in her home.
