Laramie woman sentenced for embezzling from dental group

LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - A former employee at a Laramie cosmetic surgery office has been sentenced to eight years of probation and ordered to repay the $40,000 she is accused of embezzling.

The Laramie Boomerang reports (https://bit.ly/1QAeizX ) that 39-year-old Kristina Meuchel had pleaded guilty in July to one felony count of wrongful taking or disposing of property.

Meuchel worked at Laramie Dental Arts as an office manager from 2012 through January 2015. An audit during that time period showed a number of payment irregularities, including changed dates and reposted or deleted payments, which were altered under Meuchel’s employee code.

The total suspected theft was about $41,100.

At her hearing Thursday, Meuchel said her actions were selfish and apologized to her former employer.
