NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - One man was fatally shot and two Old Dominion University students were wounded at an off-campus party, Norfolk police said Saturday.

Police said in a news release that the shooting was reported shortly before midnight Friday. The statement said Keith Lendore, 26, of Hampton, was pronounced dead at the scene. He wasn’t an ODU student.

Police said two women ages 19 and 20 with gunshot wounds were taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police spokesman Daniel Hudson said the women were Old Dominion students and the shooting occurred at a party.

Norfolk police have asked for the public’s help in identifying suspects. The shooting scene was several blocks from the college’s campus.

ODU student James Williams lives at the house where the party occurred. He told The Virginian-Pilot (https://bit.ly/1GjxEcg) the incident started when several men were refused entry into the house by Williams’ friends who were watching the door.

“They were just mad because they couldn’t get into the party,” Williams said.

Williams said he then heard gunshots next to him. Some partygoers ran inside and others scattered in the streets as more gunfire erupted.

ODU sent an email to students notifying them of the shooting.
