WINDER, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say a murder suspect was found dead in a standoff with police, leaving one deputy wounded in north Georgia.

Local news media reported late Friday that 45-year-old Jason Foreman was found dead after Hall County Deputies attempted to serve Foreman a warrant for murder. The standoff lasted several hours.

Barrow County Sheriff spokesman Jud Smith says Foreman suspect fired one shot then returned inside the home. Officers returned fire and a deputy were wounded in the Friday afternoon incident.

Hall County sheriff’s office spokeswoman Deputy Nicole Bailes says the deputy was released from the hospital.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigation whether Foreman killed himself or died when officers returned fire.

Bailes says Foreman was wanted for the fatal shooting of a man on Thursday in Lula.
