PITTSFORD, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities have charged a 46-year-old man with using a Molotov cocktail to start a fire a Masonic Temple in suburban Rochester.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says Benjamin Smith of Penfield was arrested at the scene Saturday after deputies found him with an open gas can and several broken bottles outside the Masonic Temple in the town of Pittsford.

Smith was charged with arson and harassment.

It couldn’t be determined if he has a lawyer.

The Democrat and Chronicle of Rochester reports (https://on.rocne.ws/1RRpitV ) Smith was arrested in January 2014 in Manhattan after he was found with a loaded rifle, two boxes of ammunition and a machete. Authorities say during his arrest Smith made threats against former President George W. Bush.

Smith pleaded guilty to weapons possession and was sentenced to time served and home confinement.
