JONESVILLE, La. (AP) - Three Vidalia residents died when their pickup truck was hit by a loaded log truck in Concordia Parish.

State police say the crash happened Thursday afternoon on U.S. Highway 84, east just east of Jonesville.

Master Trooper Scott Moreau said in a news release 49-year-old Richard. Stewart Jr. was driving a pickup eastbound on Highway 84 when an 18-wheeler crossed the center line. Moreau says Stewart took evasive action, but the 18-wheeler still hit the truck.

The driver of the Peterbilt, 28-year-old Mark I. Gordon of Jonesville, was not injured.

Stewart was ejected, as were two passengers in the truck - 17-year-old Vera Stewart and 15-year-old George Stewart. Moreau said those in the pickup where not wearing seat belts. All three died at the scene of the wreck.
