CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - Wyoming U.S. Sen. John Barrasso will deliver the Republican response to President Barack Obama’s weekly national address on Saturday.

Barrasso’s office says his address will focus on the Obama administration’s new water rules and other regulations.

The Environmental Protection Agency says the water rule aims to help landowners understand which waters fall under the Clean Water Act. It says the rule will help protect the nation’s waters from pollution and development and safeguard drinking water.

But opponents, including Wyoming, say the new rule illegally expands federal jurisdiction and infringes on their sovereignty. Some critics have also argued the rule does nothing to increase water quality.
