POWELL, Wyo. (AP) - New court documents reveal that a former Cody police officer was disciplined after his strip search of a suspect in 2010 violated department policy.

The Powell Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1QPgt2H) documents filed last week in the case against former Cody Assistant Police Chief George Menig say a police investigation found Menig violated the department’s code of conduct in the search and arrest of Juan Paul Flores.

Police say Flores was arrested after he said he would blow himself up with nitroglycerin he had swallowed.

Flores filed a lawsuit last year alleging Menig ripped his clothes off and shocked him with a Taser, all while he was handcuffed.

Footage of the incident surfaced years later, and Menig was placed on administrative leave.

Menig has said the search of Flores was only “unconventional.”
