PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) - A 23-year-old Pensacola man will spend the rest of his life in prison for shooting a jogger in the face.

Roosevelt Bonner Jr. was convicted of attempted first-degree murder in August. On Thursday, Circuit Judge Ross Goodman handed down the sentence which includes no possibility of parole.

The shooting happened on Aug. 22, 2014 after Bonner approached a jogger and asked him a question. The Pensacola News Journal (https://on.pnj.com/1QPozIp ) reports the jogger didn’t speak English and kept on running. Bonner followed the man and shot him the cheek a short time later.

Bonner has a long history of arrests and has been in and out jail for years. Goodman told Bonner that while he wasn’t “dealt the best hand,” it doesn’t excuse his behavior.
