OCALA, Fla. (AP) - A 20-year-old man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the shooting death of a former kicker with the University of Florida.

A judge in Ocala sentenced Jefferson Davis Guinn IV to 12 years in prison.

Guinn was convicted for the fatal March 8 shooting of former Florida walk-on kicker Daniel Krysalka, who was on the Gators roster in 2013 but never played.

The Ocala Star-Banner reports (https://bit.ly/1L7sAI9 ) that the 20-year-old Krysalka was in a bedroom with Guinn and another man who was showing Guinn how to clean the gun.

After the firearm was reassembled, Guinn put ammunition in it and pointed it at Krysalka in an apparent stunt before it went off.

Guinn’s attorney Stacy Youmans says her client pleaded guilty to accept responsibility and spare Krysalka’s family a trial.
