PITTSBURGH (AP) - Education Management Corp. has laid off 115 employees at its Art Institute schools across the country, including 10 from its Pittsburgh location.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/1YVcoj9 ) the positions were cut from several Art Institute campuses. EDMC spokesman Chris Hardman says the layoffs were announced to employees earlier this week. Hardman says staffing is being adjusted as the schools experience shifts in market demand.

The layoffs come days after the Pittsburgh for-profit education company announced it had a new CEO, Mark McEachen.

EDMC has struggled with falling admissions and declining profits for years as the for-profit education industry has come under public scrutiny over recruiting practices.

EDMC announced plans in May to shutter 15 of its 51 Art Institute campuses across the country.
