HONOLULU (AP) - The Hawaii Department of Health is warning people to keep out of the water in Mamala Bay, on Oahu’s south side, due to a large sewage spill.

Hawaii News Now reports (https://bit.ly/1FKPfKg ) that Naval Facilities Engineering Command says about 230,000 gallons of partially treated wastewater spilled into the bay on Sunday after an equipment failure.

Officials say the sewage entered they bay through the facilities outfall, which is about 1.5 miles offshore and 150 feet underwater.
