PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - Portland’s downtown district has a new name, logo and website.

Officials announced Thursday that Portland Downtown District, the organization that promotes the city’s downtown and Old Port sections, will now be called Portland Downtown.

The organization’s website, portlandmaine.com, has been redesigned with new content and more features.

The new logo resembles a postmark with “Portland” in the center and “Est.1633” stretching across the top with “Downtown” scrolled across the bottom.

Officials say the changes were meant to have the organization reflect a growing arts community, internationally known culinary scene and “influx of talent and capital.”

WCSH-TV reports Portland Downtown also released a five-year strategic plan. One of its goals is to grow the downtown district.
