EWING TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - Sharon Pfluger of The College of New Jersey has joined the rare 1,000-win club in coaching, achieving the total combined wins in two sports.

Pfluger hit the milestone on Thursday when the Lions’ field hockey team remained undefeated and won its 23rd straight game dating to last season with a win over Gwynedd-Mercy.

The school says it’s the first time in NCAA history that a coach has reached 1,000 wins by leading two sports. She has earned 545 wins in field hockey with another 455 victories in lacrosse.

Pfluger’s teams have won 20 NCAA Division III National Championships, 11 in lacrosse and nine in field hockey. Her career coaching record is 1,000-149-10, an .863 winning percentage.
