SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Utah Gov. Gary Herbert is speaking at the National Press Club in Washington on Friday.

Herbert, a Republican, is scheduled to talk about the work state governors are doing around the country.

It’s part of his role as the chairman of the National Governors Association.

The bipartisan group develops policies and lobbies on behalf of 55 governors of U.S. states, territories and commonwealths.

Herbert started a yearlong term as head of the group in July.

The Friday speech caps a week that Herbert spent in the capitol and in New York City testifying in a congressional hearing, meeting with business leaders and giving media interviews.

He returns to Utah later on Friday.
