FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) - Two homes in Flagstaff have been hit by lightning, but firefighters say the damage appears to be minimal.

Summit Fire District officials say they were dispatched first to a home reportedly hit by a lightning strike about 6:15 a.m. Tuesday.

They got a second call soon afterward about another home hit. The Flagstaff Fire Department responded to that one.

At the first home, lightning struck the chimney and carried the energy down the stove pipe to the wood stove, damaging the tile floor. But there was no fire.

At the second home, light smoke was showing from underneath a section of the eave when crews arrived.

The lightning hit a gusset plate and traveled along the nail line of the truss. The fire was isolated to the front exterior eave.
