ALLENTOWN, Pa. (AP) - An eastern Pennsylvania man has been sentenced to 13 to 26 years in state prison for videotaping the alleged sexual assaults of a 16-year-old girl.

Fifty-year-old Timothy Merwarth was sentenced Monday for filming the alleged assaults but is still awaiting trial on rape charges in connection with the accuser.

Authorities said the girl contacted police in April 2013 and told them that Merwarth had repeatedly raped her. She said he began assaulting her just after her 16th birthday.

Court records show that the North Whitehall Township man told police he had sex with the girl but described her as being the aggressor. Police said he told them he filmed their “encounters.”

He had pleaded guilty to the assault but then withdrew the plea. His trial is set for Nov. 9.
