Metro is opening two hours early Sunday to help runners get to the Marine Corps Marathon.

Metro will open at 5 a.m. Sunday. The closest Metro stop to the race’s start is the Pentagon station on the blue and yellow lines. But Metro says riders may want to consider using the Pentagon City stop as an alternate because of crowding.

Metro says to accommodate crowds it will be running additional blue line trains between 5 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. and again between 11:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Metro says there will be no track work on Sunday and that trains will operate at regular service frequencies.
