SAN ANGELO, Texas (AP) - Investigators say a high school senior in San Angelo and a recent graduate have died in a head-on traffic accident.
Officials identified the victims as 17-year-old Noah Whitaker and 19-year-old Cesar Castillo.
The Texas Department of Public Safety says the crash happened Tuesday morning about a mile north of San Angelo. Investigators are trying to determine why a pickup truck driven by Whitaker crossed into oncoming traffic and struck Castillo’s vehicle.
The San Angelo Standard-Times (https://bit.ly/1W66kpg ) reports Whitaker transferred to Central High School from Lake View High School this year and played in the band. Castillo graduated from Central High School in May and had played football.
Counselors were available at both schools Wednesday.
