PITTSBURGH (AP) - The 911 system is down in four western Pennsylvania counties, and officials are encouraging callers to use alternate numbers.

Officials say Tuesday morning’s outage is affecting callers in Armstrong, Butler, Indiana and Westmoreland counties.

They say people in Armstrong County should call 724-548-5105 to report emergencies.

In Butler County that number is 724-284-5211 and in Indiana County it’s 724-349-1428.

Westmoreland County didn’t provide an alternate number. The county’s public safety office can be reached at 724-600-7358.
