LOCKPORT, N.Y. (AP) - A 19-year-old robbery suspect who escaped from a western New York hospital overnight is back in police custody.

Niagara County sheriff’s deputies say Mariah E. Long escaped from the emergency room area of Eastern Niagara Hospital in Lockport early Tuesday morning after asking to go to the bathroom. Instead, she ran out an emergency room door and into the hospital’s parking lot.

Police searched the area for more than three hours, using dogs and a helicopter. They stopped Long driving a pickup truck around 4 a.m.

Police say she was taken back into custody without incident.
