Former heavyweight champ Mike Tyson has officially endorsed Donald Trump for president in 2016.

“He should be president of the United States,” Mr. Tyson, 49, told HuffPost Live’s Alex Miranda during a conversation about his Adult Swim show “Mike Tyson Mysteries.”

“So he’s got your vote?” the host asked.

“Hell yeah,” the former boxer answered. “Big time”

“Why wouldn’t anybody like that?” Mr. Tyson asked. “A guy that came from where he came from and doing what he’s doing and now this is where he’s at now. Know what that means? That doesn’t mean he’s a bad guy. Or that people don’t know what they’re doing. That means people are tired of what you’ve been doing. What we’ve been doing the last 20 years. Let’s try something new. We tried Obama. … So let’s try something new. Let’s run America like a business. No colors matter. Whoever can do the job, gets the job.”

Mr. Tyson acknowledged that Mr. Trump’s inflammatory comments about immigrants were “crude,” but was still quick to defend the candidate.

“It was really crude, and he needs somebody to work with him on how to deliver his messages and stuff,” he said. “But as far as what he did, he’s an average guy like everybody else. He needs time to grow too. I don’t think he thinks of Latinos in that way.”
