MONTICELLO, N.Y. (AP) - An upstate New York man has pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter in the 2014 stabbing death of a 33-year-old man.

The Times Herald-Record of Middletown ( ) reports Yahya Robinson of Monticello pleaded down from the original charge of second-degree murder on Monday just as jury selection was set to begin for his trial.

He now faces a 25-year prison sentence with five years of post-release supervision. His attorney didn’t comment on the plea deal.

Authorities said Robinson stabbed Shereem Burch multiple times on Aug. 4, 2014, outside his Monticello apartment

He is scheduled for sentencing on Jan. 20.
