BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. (AP) - The 21-year-old woman who accused a recently acquitted former Boynton Beach police officer of raping her has settled her lawsuit against the city for more than $800,000.

Mayor Jerry Taylor told the Palm Beach Post (https://tinyurl.com/nrpt3wu ) Thursday the settlement still has to be approved by the city commission.

Earlier this month, a Palm Beach County jury found Stephen Maiorino, 36, not guilty of armed sexual battery, armed kidnapping and unlawful compensation or reward for official behavior.

The woman says her civil lawsuit against Maiorino and the City of Boynton Beach is not about money, but about holding Maiorino accountable for what she says he did.

Maiorino’s attorneys say the sex was consensual.
