NEW YORK (AP) - New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is urging worried Mets fans to keep the faith.

The Mets lost the first two games of the World Series to the Royals in Kansas City. The series resumes Friday night in Queens.

De Blasio, a passionate baseball fan, said Thursday that Mets fans should “take a chill pill” and believe in their team.

He noted that the Mets rallied from a two-game deficit when they won their last championship in 1986.

And he recalled that his own favorite team, the Boston Red Sox, was trailing 3 games to none before staging a historic comeback to beat the Yankees in the 2004 playoffs.

De Blasio said he plans to attend the game at Citi Field on Friday.
