LAS VEGAS (AP) - Republican presidential hopeful Ted Cruz is postponing a planned post-debate swing through southern Nevada.

The Texas senator’s campaign said important votes on the federal debt ceiling were unexpectedly scheduled for Thursday, and he needed to head back to Washington to participate.

Cruz had planned to celebrate the grand opening of a Las Vegas campaign office at 4 p.m. Thursday, and then hold a town hall at the Mountain Shadows Community Center in Summerlin at 6 p.m.

Cruz’s Nevada campaign director promised Cruz would be back in Nevada as soon as possible.
