DEWITT, N.Y. (AP) - A company that makes lighting and LED technology is relocating its manufacturing operations to central New York.

California-based Soraa made the announcement alongside Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Thursday.

The move is expected to create 300 high-tech manufacturing jobs and 120 research and development positions and include an investment of $1.3 billion over 10 years.

The state is kicking in $90 million to build and equip the facility in DeWitt, near Syracuse, as part of SUNY Polytechnic’s Central New York Hub for Emerging Nano Industries.

Cuomo says the company’s relocation will help boost the region’s status as a center for high-tech industry.
