MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - Gov. Peter Shumlin says the state’s online health insurance exchange is ready for the open enrollment period when Vermonters can sign up for coverage or change their health care plans.

The three-month open enrollment period starts on Sunday.

Officials said earlier this month that technology upgrades had been tested and by the deadline the governor had set for smooth operations of the system two years after it was launched.

Shumlin also said Thursday that premiums will decrease slightly for many Vermonters in 2016.
