SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - Three Caddo Parish high school athletic departments face penalties from the Louisiana High School Athletic Association following an investigation into potential rules violations.

The LHSAA issued a statement Friday saying an investigation found Byrd, Huntington and Southwood high schools in violation of the rules against allowing student-athletes to take more than one athletic class during the school day.

The LHSAA statement says a complete list of sports affected at each school has yet to be determined, The association is allowing continued regular season play. Sanctions would include a ban on playoff participation.

However, the Caddo school system said it would appeal and hopes to have the situation resolved within the next week.
