SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. (AP) - Emergency crews and divers have been searching for a fisherman missing at Moraine State Park in western Pennsylvania.

Authorities say 51-year-old Walter Powell, of Gibsonia was last seen launching a canoe about 7 p.m. Thursday at the Bear Run Boat Launch at the park, about 40 miles north of Pittsburgh.

Assistant park manager Jake Weiland says Butler County Emergency Services crews and the county’s water rescue team and divers were searching for the man.

The search began about 8 a.m. Friday, after park officials were told that Powell hadn’t returned from a fishing trip.
