BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - The Louisiana Attorney General’s Office says in a news release a 46-year-old Denham Springs man has been arrested on counts of theft, forgery and residential contractor fraud.

The AG’s office says James Howard Brewer, owner of Brewer Construction Group LLC, is accused of taking a down payment of approximately $3,300 and failing to perform the promised work. He was arrested Tuesday.

The news release says investigators found out Brewer didn’t become a licensed construction contractor until August, several months after the deal was signed.

If convicted, he could face up to 10 years on each of the counts against him.
