FLINT, Mich. (AP) - The Flint Police Department has delivered on its pledge to post names and arrest photos of prostitution suspects online to help deter would-be offenders.

The Flint Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1KJY6al ) the names and mug shots of five men have been posted on the department’s Facebook page. Officials announced plans to post them last year.

The information released Thursday is based on a July effort targeting prostitution.

Police say they are allowed to share the information since arrest records are public. Chief James Tolbert has said police believe the public notifications will be effective because they may have other repercussions for offenders.
