DACULA, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say a high school student was killed and his younger brother critically injured in a car crash in suburban Atlanta.

Local news media report that the wreck occurred Friday morning about two miles away from Dacula High School.

Gwinnett Medical Examiner Ted Bailey says 17-year-old Jared Brown died and his 15-year-old brother was injured in the crash with 44-year-old Richard Ford. Brown and his brother were taken to Gwinnet Medical Center, where Brown was pronounced dead.

Police say Brown’s brother was the passenger in the vehicle and sustained serious, life-threatening injuries.

Cpl. Michele Pihera says Brown made a left onto Harbins Road and drove into the path of a vehicle driven by Ford before both collided. Ford of Bethlehem was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
