WOODBRIDGE, Conn. (AP) - The southbound side of Route 15 has reopened after being shut more than six hours when state workers found a body on the side of the road.

State police say Department of Transportation workers found the body at about 8:40 a.m. Friday along the side of the key north-south highway.

The Hartford Courant reports that as cars stopped, southbound lanes of the Wilbur Cross Parkway resembled a parking lot. Frustrated motorists got out of their cars and walked around.

The incident is being investigated as an untimely death. Police said it appears the person had been hit by a car.

It was not immediately clear if police found indications of the car or driver in the area or if they had information about the victim’s identity.

The parkway reopened at 3:30 p.m.
