SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - A New York parolee has admitted luring a man with fake prostitutes, then stabbing him to death.

The Post-Standard of Syracuse reports (https://bit.ly/1WlC7CJ ) 28-year-old John Kosmetatos pleaded guilty Thursday to murder in the 2014 killing of Tony Lewis. Prosecutors say he was promised a sentence of life in prison without parole.

The plea comes days before the East Syracuse man was to stand trial in the slaying.

Kosmetatos had been paroled on a drug conviction in June 2014. Later that year, he persuaded two women to lure Lewis to an abandoned house. Prosecutors say Kosmetatos beat Lewis with brass knuckles and stabbed him to death.

The two women pleaded guilty in the case and agreed to testify against him if it went to trial.

Kosmetatos will be sentenced Dec. 4.
