MILLBURN, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say a 51-year-old man was critically injured after a tree fell and struck him in northern New Jersey.

Essex County Sheriff Armando Fontoura says the South Orange man and a woman were walking in South Mountain Reservation in Millburn Thursday afternoon when the tree came down.

NJ.com reports (https://bit.ly/1jW7P8F ) emergency responders and sheriff’s officers assisted in rescuing the man. Authorities say he was airlifted to University Hospital in Newark with serious injuries.
