MUSKOGEE, Okla. (AP) - A company that produces equipment for the oil and gas industry says it will lay off about 75 people at its facility in Muskogee.

Vallourec Star announced Thursday that the layoffs will happen by the end of the year at the Port of Muskogee finishing mill. The Muskogee Phoenix reports (https://bit.ly/1RihYqG ) that the latest round of layoffs will leave fewer than 100 workers at the Muskogee mill.

The company laid off about 50 workers in April, citing reduced demand for one of its steel pipes that is used in the energy production sector.

Company president Judson Wallace cited the downtown in the oil and gas market as reason for the layoffs. Wallace says the affected employees will receive severance packages.
