HYDE PARK, N.Y. (AP) - A Maryland man who pleaded guilty in a violent kidnapping and robbery in the Hudson Valley has been sentenced to 19 years in state prison.

The Poughkeepsie Journal reports (https://pojonews.co/1ScWqfM ) Victor Denny of Forestville, Maryland, was sentenced Thursday in exchange for pleading guilty to first-degree robbery and second-degree kidnapping.

Prosecutors said Denny was one of four people involved in the robbery of a Hyde Park credit union on Oct. 8, 2014, and the kidnapping and assault of a 23-year-old man.

They said Denny and another Maryland man entered the bank armed with guns, pistol-whipped a teller and terrorized customers. This was after they kidnapped and violently assaulted a man to use his car for the robbery.

Prosecutors said the three others have admitted their roles in the robbery.
